The Old Custom House has a superb location within Aldeburgh. Good stuff. Property was just perfect for our three night stay – so very close to local restaurants / coffee shops / shops / pubs. I would recommend the following: Restaurants : The Aldeburgh Market, The Lighthouse (perhaps book in advance) and Thai Street Cafe Breakfast is a must at The Two Magpies The Old Custom House is clean, comfortable and cosy. It just has everything you need for a lovely trip away. Thanks for letting us stay.

A lovely cosy and quirky cottage in a fabulous location. Had everything we needed. Parking up the road was no issue for us. Outdoor space was at the front of the property – sunny in the mornings so the steps became our regular breakfast spot. All good😊

A beautiful property which is a haven. Such a privilege to stay so close to the beach and right on the High St. a warm welcome awaits at the Old Custom House. Thank you for making our stay so special.

Situated at one end of Aldeburgh High Street, this small house is very handy for the excellent local shops as well as for lovely walks on the beach or over the marshes. You really don’t need to use a car. You are only a couple of minutes from the sea front. Inside, there is everything you need in the well-designed kitchen and living space and a very pleasant bedroom and shower room upstairs. The unusually positioned front door is not in fact the way you enter but adds, with its associated history, to the charm of the place. Perfect for a couple wanting a short stress free break. Highly recommended.

We have just got back from a wonderful stay in the Old Custom
House. We had a phone call on our check in day to say the house was ready early which worked out perfectly. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for our little holiday, we had our 3 month old baby with us and the bedroom was a really good size to fit his little cot and still have plenty of room. The location is brilliant, we will definitely book again

Really lovely cottage in a great location. Aldeburgh is an engaging seaside town with lots of walks and a fabulous seafront and lots of good place to eat. The weather was amazing for January so the whole trip was glorious.
LJ Carries – February 2022
A special little cottage in a fabulous location on the High Street. Clean, well thought out and all you need for a cosy base to explore Aldeburgh and the villages and coastline. While there is no parking, which could prove difficult in the Summer months, this was no hassle at all in November. A perfect stay, thank you.
Sarah – November 2021
Mini birthday break in Suffolk. Great little mini break in Suffolk at this cute property in the lovely village of Aldeburgh. Nice to find a cottage where we could book a few days (rather than a week) and it was well furnished, clean and had everything we needed. Loads to do in the area with some good eating places nearby and we cooked a bit too. Would definitely go back!
Ray – November 2021
The cottage was equipped with everything we could possibly need for a week’s stay in Aldeburgh and is in a great location, just steps from the beach and high street with its interesting shops and fantastic restaurants. We ate excellent seafood at The Lighthouse and The Regatta and enjoyed fresh fried fish and chips from across the road, but a highlight was the wonderful smoked fish from Ashes smokery on the beach. There are wonderful varied walks directly from the cottage without the need for a car, but it is also easy to reach many of Suffolk’s other charming destinations along the coast and inland. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the surrounding area and would love to return to the Old Custom House.
Disy, Cirencester – August 2021

This venue is a gem – everything spot on – fantastic! From beginning to end the visit was excellent – we even had great weather everyday – the house was great, so was its location, the sea was within 59 metres, and the local restaurants and fish retailers were great! We have absolutely no complaints – for any new visitor they should be warned that parking is an issue – if when you arrive and find a space keep it – use the bus or walk as you may not find any space when you return. Great visit – well done to you all – and many thanks!
Barry Noble – September 2020

This was our 1st Airbnb & our first trip to Aldeburgh, and I can honestly say we were thoroughly delighted with our choice. It was immaculate, had everything you needed for a short break & felt very homely. The touch of leaving wine & nibbles, was a wonderful thoughtful treat. We didn’t want to leave & we will be back!
Fiona Cole – March 2020
The Old Customs House is a wonderful place to stay in Aldeburgh. Fantastic location, just 35 steps from one of the best fish and chip shops in the town! The house was immaculate and cosy for a winter break. Highly recommend. Just be prepared for a fair few people walking past to stop and look at the building, as it’s one with such history.
