Description
Bohemian luxury miles from light pollution or traffic noise the Dairy House has been converted from a Victorian farm building, without hiding its history.
The kitchen, former cart sheds, can seat 12 for dinner by a cozy wood-burning stove. Another stove warms the sitting room. They both open onto a sheltered courtyard, great for al fresco dining and BBQs, amid with beds planted with herbs and bursting with seasonal blooms. The sitting room also opens onto a lawn/field for lazy afternoons and staggering sunsets. Upstairs, once haylofts and a granary, four doubles, a twin and a single are served by two showers and two baths. The master bedroom has an ensuite, a hammam-style bath, and a balcony for sundowners.
A romantic family getaway with beautiful walks to nearby Snape Maltings, Thorpeness, and Aldeburgh, the Diary House is isolated, private and perfect for birdsong and chill.

The Dairy cottage was extremely peaceful and we loved our stay here. Perfect for a rural quiet escape while being close to the coast and picturesque towns. Check in was easy and straight forward and Emma was a fantastic host.

Pictures do not do this place justice. Absolute serenity. Great value for how large the house is.
Sam – May 2024
We had a wonderful stay here over Easter weekend. The setting is so peaceful and beautiful, and the house is gorgeous – the photos don’t do it justice. The surrounding area is lovely with lots of nice towns and countryside to visit. We hope to come again soon!
Alexandra – Apr 2024
Beautiful space out in the country!
Cory – Oct 2023
A beautiful house in an incredible location, peaceful and secluded but walking distance to Snape and a 10 minute drive from Aldeburgh. More than enough room for eight people over a lovely family weekend.
Tim – June 2023
Totally loved the place. Surrounded by fields and forests which you can walk through to get to the sea or to shops and restaurants. Watched sunset from the balcony.
Dan – May 2023
An exceptional house in an idyllic location. We enjoyed our bank holiday at The Dairy. The house is perfect for two families of four. It’s well-equipped and beautifully decorated, with many options for entertainment and relaxation for all ages. We have just left but already making plans to comeback!
Angela – May 2023
We really could not have had a more perfect stay! An absolutely stunning, interesting, comfortable, and spacious house in a gorgeous setting surrounded by woodlands and with lovely sunset/sunrise views. We had a lovely evening out on the bench in the sunshine, cooked some feasts in the amazing kitchen and dining area, relaxed in the living room, and were easily able to reach the Maltings (where we were performing) and Aldeburgh beach for lovely seaside fish and chips and walks on the beach! A truly special place to stay, brilliant communication, and extremely good value for money. Would love to stay again – thank you so much!
Rachel – April 2023
We had a wonderful stay. The cottage is huge – plenty of space for the 7 of us to be together or do things separately. The kitchen was fantastic for family meals, and the lounge spacious, yet cozy with lots of books and games. The big baths, peaceful setting, and fantastic efficient log burners just topped it off.
Sally – February 2023
What a beautiful house! We had such a lovely holiday and almost didn’t want to leave the house to explore anywhere else. It’s walking distance (through a gorgeous nature reserve) to Snape Maltings where we enjoyed the annual Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival, and most other places of note along the Suffolk coast are only a short drive away. Recommended for a family holiday for sure!
Johannah – September 2022
Lovely house! A perfect place for the whole family!
Hannah – May 2022
Amazing cottage, the pictures don’t do it justice. Huge communal areas, an incredible master bedroom, beautiful big baths and powerful showers. Nice enclosed courtyard too. The cottage is located at the end of a pot hole filled dirt road which our cars struggled with but once you’re there it’s perfect. Access to great walks by foot and you can even walk along the Sailors Path to Aldeburgh and Snape. Beautiful!
Laura – January 2022
Great place, with plenty of rooms and bathrooms
Keval – November 2021
Reluctant to write too glowing a report as would love to keep it a secret. It’s pretty much perfect. Very isolated (in a good way) but the property, the views, the bookshelves the decor. Amazing. And beautiful walks towards Aldeburgh or Snape as it’s on the sailors footpath
Michael – November 2021
Lots of space a really luxurious barn conversion. Well equipped and close to beach and some fabulous villages and walks. Thank you for sharing your home. Loved the artwork and your extensive library.
Laurence – October 2021
A very well appointed property with an amazing array of kitchen equipment. We loved the position and the ambience of this house, a home from home!
Jackie – October 2021
Great, quiet location and only 20min from the coast. Lovely, spacious house with 3 separate bathrooms (ideal for 3 couples) and room to find a bit of peace and quiet. Ideal setting next to a wood with some great walks. Lovely enclosed courtyard with BBQ and hammock.
Michael – July 2021
The Dairy House is great. It offered so much more in every area than photos could suggest. The location is idyllic, on the edge of an oak wood. The house is wonderful and we loved all the books, furniture and art from the family’s travels. It felt like a privilege to stay in what was obviously a much loved family home as well as a well-equipped and managed holiday stay. There are lots of walks which pass through multiple landscapes, such as the one to Snape Maltings, yet are not very long. And it is an easy drive to the coast and many lovely spots. We could not have been more happy.
Hester – June 2021
A really lovely house in a very secluded location. The kitchen and living rooms downstairs are really great family rooms and have lots of space for children, as well as being very cosy with the log burners
Chris Callanan – November 2020
Picturesque old house with beautiful views of the Suffolk countryside. Great social place with all the amenities you need. Helpful helpful team at ACC allowed us to stay an extra hour before checking out. Found it very tricky to find it in the dark so would recommend going in the day light!
Robyn Turnock – October 2020
A beautifully spacious house, with lovely homely touches.
Andrew Horton – October 2020
Great location with lots of walks from the property. Spacious, sparkling clean, well equipped. Great wood burning stove for cosy nights in.
Andrew Bennett – October 2020
This is in a beautiful location and has everything that was needed.
Karen Caisley – September 2020
A perfect Suffolk hideaway. We can’t wait to come back.
Amelia Colley – September 2020
Dairy House is wonderful; remote, spacious, perfectly laid out and so restorative. We are already dreaming of going back!
Nicki Sprinz – February 2020
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the dairy….the location was great and we found it no problem thanks to clear instructions from the host who responded promptly to queries prior to our arrival. The house was so spacious and the layout meant we had lots of room for us, the kids and their grandma to enjoy the house. The decor was really interesting, and we loved all the books!!The kitchen was very well equipped and the house was clean. We enjoyed exploring the local area which was very accessible from the house location. We hope to come back another time!
