Meare House, Thorpeness

Lovely house, well equipped and comfortable. We particularly appreciated how warm and cosy it was!

We had 9 of us ladies stay for the weekend and the place was big enough for us. The beds were so comfortable. The house was beautiful. and just a short walk up the road either way was a beautiful pub one way where we had a beautiful steak for dinner and a cafe the other way in the morning where we had a gorgeous breakfast. so all in all a really fab stay and highly recommend xxx

Meare House was perfect for a family getaway with young children. Especially liked the stair gates in kitchen so we could keep the dogs/children contained, the well stocked kitchen and the choice of toys/games/books. The nespresso coffee machine was a bonus too! Really good location and easy to get to, Thorpeness is definitely worth a visit. My sister has already booked the house again for her and friends in November and we plan to return next year. This is a wonderful family cottage right next to The Meare and the beach and in fact it is a short walk from everything in Thorpeness. Very spacious and comfortable bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Large sitting room and even a separate snug room for youngsters. The small secluded garden is completely enclosed so safe for children and dogs. We had a fabulous week there and hope to return in the very near future. Thanks very much from Fiona.

A really great place in an excellent location. If anything it exceeded our expectations as it had a playroom loaded with toys, which we didn’t realise and went down very well with the four little ones, and was in walking distance of a great pub.

We have just returned from a fabulous weekend at Meare House. The location is absolutely perfect right in the heart of the bustling village of Thorpness there is a great pub called the Dolphin and a lovely cafe called The Emporium literally within a stones throw. The house backs onto the lake and the beach is just down the road. We went on a great 10k walk to Aldeburgh which is also a beautiful town with great shops, cafes, restaurants and ice cream parlours. The house is great for a big group and well equipped. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Great week spent in Thorpeness. The house was stunning, very comfortable, spacious and immaculate. The view overlooking The Meare lake was beautiful and we were fortunate to see the Thorpeness Meare Junior regatta and firework display which was amazing. A real treat! The games, books and toys were a real bonus for the kids and a coffee machine for the adults! The location is fantastic with the beach just a couple of minutes away. We had a wonderful week away and hope to return again in the future. Thank you Emma and team.

Couldn’t have wanted for more! Meare House is easy to find with plenty of off road parking. A large, attractive and spacious house that is more than big enough to sleep 6, 8 or 10. It is well appointed and importantly in 2020 is spotlessly clean! In addition to all amenities there’s the pleasure of a log burner and an elegant bath in the large master bedroom as well as sight of the lake from a couple of the windows. Though the October weather precluded this, it is set up for visitors outside in the garden with table and chairs etc. For anyone wishing to visit the beauty of Thorpeness, Aldeburgh and Southwold we highly recommend it as a place to stay!

Holiday makers can expect a wonderful stay at this beautiful, well equipped house, in a stunning location. It is just 5 mins walk from the beach (very pebbly!) and fronted by the gorgeous Meare lake. It has a sleepy village feel, is tranquil and very pretty. The windmill and House in the Clouds are a must see and lovely Aldeburgh is just 5 mins drive away. Perfect place to stay for any time of year, whatever the occasion.

We had a great time! Even the weather was a bit better than forecast. The house is lovely and the location really beautiful and relaxing. We even loved the wild sea on Saturday, in the gale force wind! We also loved the House in the clouds, the Windmill and the swans on the Meare. We were all agreed that it would be a great place to holiday in the summer too. The house itself offered perfect bedroom set up for our family, with plenty of space and exceptional levels of equipment. The only slight disappointment was that the woodburner was out of action, but did not detract from our enjoyment, and we were given a refund by way of compensation, which was a much appreciated gesture. Thank you! Hopefully, we will be back again. What a great weekend!
