Customer Reviews
Hermitage House was exactly as described, with the view on the meare being absolutely stunning. Beautiful property with everything we needed for self catering, plenty of space for 10 of us (5 couples), bonus with every bedroom having its own bathroom or ensuite. with comfortable beds. Lovely walk across marshland and seafront to Aldeburgh, which is only 2 miles away. Would definitely return, thank you.

Cannot think of a single thing that wasn’t perfect about the place! Great weather obviously helped to make the visit pleasant but as soon as you walk into the property it feels amazing and remains that way. Well equipped and in a fantastic location.

What a beautiful place. We were three families who have stayed together several times and everyone said this was the best place we had stayed in. The sunset viewed from the summer house was fantastic and even in March we found times to sit outside and enjoy the view and the peace and quiet. The house was sunny, light and warm with lots of different spaces to sit, chat and relax.

It was surprise for my wife’s 60th birthday, she loved it and so did the kids and grandkids. It was a perfect place for a family get together.

Just had a fabulous stay, 9 people for a 70th birthday celebration together with dogs. The house is beautiful, well laid out with plenty of space and light. You immediately feel at home when you walk in. It’s got everything you need and ACC and team laid on all the extras I requested. We wouldn’t hesitate to return or to use another of ACC’s houses. A really perfect few days, thank you.

Lovely big house in a beautiful setting. Lots of space to relax with friends or family but with the space to also escape them if you want a bit of quiet time!

Twelve of us, all 70+, spent a long weekend at the Hermitage in early December and had a brilliant stay. The house is well appointed throughout with plenty of room for a large group to chill out in different spaces – including the summerhouse, which has heating so you can linger by the lake watching the late afternoon sun glint on the passing swans as the temperature drops. It’s a large house but cosy in winter. The kitchen/dining room which opens onto the garden and overlooks the lake is a great social space to gather in – plenty of room to chat and cook at the same time. In summer, the location speaks for itself but if you fancy an off season break, we can highly recommend the Hermitage as a comfortable house to stay in – all day if you like – but with lots to do around and about, even in winter.

Wonderful house where you relax the moment you walk through the door. I have stayed at Hermitage a number of times over the years and it never fails to impress. With beautiful views over the lake, this house is a proper retreat and a home from home. You can’t help but relax. Good for large groups, spacious and sociable. Loved the new summer house at the bottom of the garden to sit and watch the sun going down with a nice glass of wine. Plenty to do nearby, beach on the doorstep, fun mini-golf just up the road, good food and a warm welcome at the Dolphin Inn round the corner, and Aldeburgh an easy walk away – if you can tear yourself away from this gem of a house it’s the perfect place for a relaxing break.

Fantastic property. True to photos, spotlessly clean, warm and well equipped not only with household goods but games and activities. Looking out over the mere at the Swans and other water birds was a real delight. Absolute gem of a find for a large party – would certainly use again.

Wonderful house for our annual weekend away, 6 mature couples and every one wants to return. Lovely spacious house with lovely patio, garden and views over the Meare. Everything was perfect, Thorpeness is a great base for exploring the area. The house is fully equipped and very comfortable. Well done!!

12 of us stayed here for a birthday celebration. It was the perfect place for a relaxed get together with mixed ages. The house has plenty of room for you to find your own space if you wish to but at the same time is very cosy . We stayed in January and the house was lovely and warm which was a massive plus !! Comfortable and well equipped it has a lovely feel about it. Lovely big kitchen with huge table and a couple of comfy arm chairs, this was the hub for us over the weekend, the two sitting rooms lead off from each end of the kitchen which works really well. The bedrooms were all really comfortable with the three doubles at the back having amazing views across the Meare. Just beautiful to wake up and see the swans gliding across the water. The garden goes down to the Meare. We took our dog and the garden is fenced in so they can’t escape. !! ( Unless they swim away !) The beach is near enough to walk to, so is the local pub which served good food and drinks. Would definitely recommend a visit here and we hope to come again.

A lovely house in a wonderful position!
The best thing about this house is its position on the edge of a lake. Facilities are set up for large families, and the house has two lounges with two TVs so children can watch in one room and adults in the other. Not that we spent much time watching television! There are ample games to play, and access to a boat for older teenagers.
There is also much to see in the area. We walked to Aldburgh, went to Southwold, and Snape Maltings, and rented larger boats on the lake. The managers of the property are excellent, and went out of their way to make our holiday perfect.
Sebmason, Nottingham – Hermitage House – April 2019
It was fantastic! It’s not often a rental property exceeds expectation but in this case it did. We all absolutely loved Hermitage. Comfort in excelsis. And that view over the lake! I’ve already earmarked it for another visit in the future, with family next time, or possibly a group of writers.
Thank you for your prompt and friendly service before and after our stay. It was magical.
