Description
This light and airy two-storey property makes a lovely coastal retreat for families and groups of friends, whether seeking a traditional seaside holiday or looking for a base to explore the stunning Suffolk coast.
Tucked away in a quiet spot near the centre of Thorpeness ‘9 The Coastguards’ is just a stone’s throw from all the attractions of Thorpeness, including the famous House in the Clouds, the windmill, the Meare, ‘The Dolphin’ pub, golf club, tennis courts and best of all, the beach!
The property features a cosy and inviting lounge, with plenty of comfortable seating, while the kitchen/diner is equipped for all your catering needs with a large dining table for family meals. There’s a bright and sunny conservatory with access to a large lawn and a patio where you can relax and enjoy the sun. There are four bedrooms to choose from, two of which provide double beds, whilst there’s also two twin rooms.
A sunny lawned garden wraps around the property, featuring a patio, BBQ and outdoor dining area, to make the most of the warmer weather.
There are wonderful walks from the door but it’s a great base too for exploring the Suffolk Heritage coast and East Anglia (near-by attractions include the Sutton Hoo ship burial, Minsmere bird reserve, Framlingham castle and Orford Ness & castle).

Lovely cottage, just perfect for us, as we holiday with extended family. Lots of space for dining and cooking and very well equipped. One of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in as it feels like a loved, family holiday home. Really comfortable and spacious for a big group, great garden, quiet spot and very close to the beach. We had such a nice stay we have already booked again for next summer hols 😊😊

This property exceeded our expectations, it was in a lively quiet location but excellent access to all the local amenities. The property was decorated to a very high standard and was clean and well supplied throughout . We were given the opportunity for an early check in and a late checkout, which we took and was definitely worth it . Our queries were handled quickly and any questions I had were answered immediately by Lisa! This was our first time in Thorpeness and I have no doubt that we will be back ! Thank you for letting us stay your lovely home.

We love Thorpeness and have stayed on a number of occasions, but our family has expanded and we needed a larger house for our stay this year, hence the choice of 9 The Coastguards. It’s a lovely house and very well laid out for a large family to stay. It’s clean, modern and everything works as it should. Emma’s team were very efficient in organising extra high chairs and travel cots for the babies and, helpfully, let us know that the house was ready for occupation well before the advertised time. Check-in was simple and we had no problems with settling the children and the dog. Very happy with the heating and hot water systems (plenty of hot water for baths, showers, washing-up etc.) and some welcome additions like a stair gate meant that we could keep the more adventurous children (and the dog) from wandering too far! The weather for our stay this year wasn’t wonderful but (I’m told) there’s no such thing as the wrong weather, just the wrong clothing – but we came well prepared.
