The Tower, Thorpeness

We had a lovely stay. Location is just perfect. Close to the beach and lots of lovely places nearby to explore. The house is a beautiful building and well equipped for a large group. It was warm and cozy and we all had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the area. Would definitely recommend a stay here if you get the chance.

We love staying at The Tower, our second stay, and this time we were celebrating my sons’ respective 18th and 21st birthdays and my husband’s 70th! The accommodation is very clean and spacious, comfortable beds, and the younger kids loved the secret staircase and the room at the top with the beautiful and panoramic views of Thorpeness and coastline. The kitchen is very well equipped with plenty of bowls, saucepans, baking trays, cutlery, plates to cook and eat. Nice touch that you kept the essentials like salt, pepper and oil in the cupboard left by previous tenants! Thank you for a lovely weekend – we will definitely be returning!

Our stay at the Tower was simply fantastic. What a lovely home and our grandchildren had such fun ( staying in a castle !!) despite us telling them it was formerly a church. A really impressive quality conversion in a great location . Ample space for 6 adults and four grandchildren. All the key elements cleanliness, equipment, furnishings , Bed Linen and towels etc reflect an owner who takes care of detail that impacts so positively on a stay at the Tower. Communication was excellent considering we booked before lockdown and were delayed for a year. The Tower is an amazing, quirky building. Great for a Halloween weekend with small children, especially with the secret staircase! Despite awful weather we found lots to do locally, so it’s a good location.

The Tower was a great place for us to stay while working in the local area. The building itself is quirky and characterful, and with plenty of space for the four of us. The kitchen was a good size and well equipped for cooking, the lounge area on the first floor was great, and there were 3 bathrooms as well. The whole flat was cleaned to a good standard. Thorpeness itself is a very quiet and relaxing place – with close access to the beach and with lots of good walking/running routes close by. The Dolphin Inn around the corner does excellent food. I would highly recommend The Tower to a large family or to a group of adults looking to stay in the area.

We had a lovely time. The house was well equipped and the kids loved the stairs and the hidden stairs as well. It was so closed to the beach and it was a lovely town with a nice local pub. We really enjoyed the stay. Kids loved that there was also WiFi although the connection on the kitchen was not the best but it worked well elsewhere.

What a lovely weekend we had! The Tower is so well-positioned – a 2 mins walk from the beach and a 5 mins walk to Thorpeness centre with the Meare and local pub. Such a beautifully designed and immaculate house with an interesting secret staircase which my kids loved. We loved every bit of our time there and would definitely revisit. We really enjoyed our weekend at The Tower. My 98 year old mother managed the spiral staircase with ease, but there are a lot of steps and stairs and changes of level, so just to echo what other people have said, it’s not a place for very young children or anyone with mobility issues. All the grown up children loved the secret staircase. We experienced some very wild weather, but The Tower remained very warm and cosy throughout. There was a small hiccup with hot water one morning, but this was dealt with impressively quickly. The Tower is clean, comfortable, attractive and well equipped, without being so stylish that you are afraid to move or touch anything. I would definitely stay here again.

It was my wife’s 70th Birthday, ten of the family stayed in total. Lovely property, quirky, lost the kids sometimes hiding in the secret staircase. We had Sunday lunch at Thorpeness Golf Club, so the location was nice and handy, just around the corner. We are looking to book again in October.

Just a thank you note to confirm we all had the most fantastic time at The Tower in Thorpeness this past week. The accommodation was “unique”, smart, clean, warm, well equipped and everything was sound and worked. The location is perfect and really well placed for coastal walks on the doorstep and also visiting loads of great, varied places (by car) all within half an hour. Local pubs are lovely. Weather was unexpectedly, absolutely superb and made it extra special. We will definitely be returning to Suffolk within the next year or so and will revisit your website. Thanks a lot again.

This is the second time we have stayed at The Tower and cannot fault it. The house is beautiful and so well looked after. Each room is spotless and has everything you’d ever need. Communication with Aldeburgh Coastal Cottages is easy and nothing too much for ask. They even had a Christmas tree up in the front room which was a lovely, homely touch. Great quirky property
Spent a fabulous long weekend with school friends celebrating big birthdays. The property was close to the beach and perfect for exploring Suffolk. Would thoroughly recommend this quirky property for larger parties as it was very fascinating being a converted church, and retaining many of its features including the secret stairway.
