An ideal getaway for couples or small family looking for a relaxing break by the Suffolk Coast. ‘Dower Lodge’ is a part of ‘The Dower’ estate and has been refurbished to create a spacious, light and airy open plan living area with three good sized bedrooms. It has stunning views over the sea and coastline to Thorpeness and a wonderful second floor roof terrace that maximises this outlook. The outside space is extensive, with a large south facing terrace and enclosed lawned garden.
Just 2.5 miles from Aldeburgh, this stunning house enjoys a fantastic seaside location and is adjacent to the RSPB’s wetland reserve of Minsmere. The estate is home to a range of wildlife including deer and there are also opportunities for fishing trips as well as spectacular walks.

Beautiful house, a short walk from the sea. A quiet part of the coast. You can see and hear the sea from the house which is lovely. The house is secluded and quiet but also a short drive from nearby towns. A big garden and the hosts were very responsive and helpful when contacted. We would stay again.

There’s always that moment with a holiday let when you prepare yourself for disappointment, but The Dower Lodge did not disappoint! It was spacious, bright, clean, warm and very comfortable – perfect for our family of 5 adults and a baby. The Lodge is in a great position with lovely grounds and easy access to the coastal path. The bedrooms all have views across the grounds and to the sea which was lovely to wake up to. The Lodge is perfectly situated for exploring some of well-known towns and villages in the area. This was our first visit to the Suffolk coast and we loved it. Staying at the Lodge certainly added to us having a great break and a most enjoyable time.

Lovely house, faithfully restored, spacious and very comfortable. Amazing sea views from top two floors. Coastal walk at the end of the long garden. Beach was empty and weather was amazing. Very quiet and peaceful location but not easy to find. Highly recommended.

We wanted to get away from it all and this cottage was perfect for that. The coastal path is at the end of the garden and we could happily walk to two of the villages (pubs!). We also walked into Aldeburgh although it took just over an hour, which is a lovely seaside town. We can recommend to gin distillery tour. The house itself is set out on three floors that meant we could be self contained on one floor and my in-laws on the other floor. The house benefitted from being done up in a sympathetic way, as it was spacious and airy. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. Although we like walking, I think you would need a car for shopping etc and exploring the local area.

‘Pure luxury’ We were bowled over by the setting of the property. And the inside was luxurious and perfect. The rooms were large and very well decorated, everywhere looked freshly painted. Kitchen was better stocked in utensils than my own! Garden was vast. You can hear the sea! Beautiful furnishings. We will come again soon

Dower Lodge is set in wonderful grounds, alongside 3 other holiday rental properties. Even though there are other properties on the site, there was very little noise and we felt very secluded. The garden is huge, and it’s a short walk to the beach. Communication was proactive and helpful.
