Shore Cote, Thorpeness

Shore Cote was in a beautiful location, we have always loved Thorpeness as it’s so peaceful and quaint. You can take a walk along the coast to Aldeburgh or stay in Thorpeness and take advantage of the lovely coffee shops and emporium. As a group of ladies on our annual weekend away the house was perfect. The sitting room cosy and comfy for us all and the bedrooms warm and clean. The dining table was also perfect for 8 of us to have our evening meal. We had an issue with the water one morning but it was quickly resolved with a guy coming out to check on us, very helpful. The garden overlooks the sea, a bit blustery for us to sit out but I can imagine in the summer months it would be the perfect location to sit and take in the nature. We would highly recommend Shore Cote.

Lovely beach house with 5 bedrooms, good size garden and direct access to the beach via a garden gate and small path. Beach is lovely and not very busy, allowing you to get some quality R&R. The house has pretty much everything you could need to start your vacation in a relaxed and carefree manner. The owners even brought us a new gas canister for the gas bbq when we discovered it was empty. Thorpeness is a beautiful country village and perfect for ‘getting away from it all’, including a boating lake, windmill and fabulous local pub a short walk away. In summary, fantastic place to catch up with friends and family! Thank you for an amazing stay!

Lovely stay with family thank you to celebrate my 70th birthday. A great seaside cottage and the location suited us well with easy access to other places by bicycle or car. The cottage was well resourced with plenty of kitchen equipment, cutlery and crockery. The rooms were comfortable and worked well for our family. Just lovely to see and hear the sea.

Located on the beach the bedrooms have a fabulous view of the sea. Described as quaint, homely, different, it was like stepping into a home with furniture chosen to allow one to relax. A reasonable stroll along the beach is the best fish and chip shop ever, but beware of the seagulls who will be happy to steal anything. The Bull pub is a few hundred yards away and does a great Sunday lunch, make sure you book a table as it is very popular. Then there is the mere, loads of swans and ducks to feed and boating in the summer. This is a great place to get away and simply leave the world behind for a weekend.

We stayed at Shore Cote for a long weekend to spend some quality family time together, it was myself with our children age 8yo and 17yo and my mother in law. The house was really clean and exactly as advertised. The location and views are spectacular and we all loved it, the beach is quiet and ideal for a cold morning swim, the girls loved exploring the beach! As well as exploring Thorpeness, we walked into Aldeburgh during our visit (which is a lovely coastal walk) and spent some time at the boutiques and pubs. In the evenings we played boardgames while admiring the view and listening to the ocean with the electric fire for ambience – just perfect! The communication and flexibility around our stay was brilliant and the service was excellent.

Shore Cote was exactly as described. Beautiful location within the sounds of the sea, absolutely tranquil yet near to the pub and golf club with excellent food. Every amenity one could wish for and the comfortable beds and super soft pillows were a joy to sleep in. No issues at all. Look forward to returning.

We had a fabulous stay at Shore Cote to celebrate my 70th birthday. There were nine people ranging in age from 11 months to 70 and the house was extremely well equipped and suitable for all of us. The location right next to the beach with an uninterrupted view of the sea was idyllic. There are three outside eating areas so if it is windy there is one that is more sheltered. Thorpeness is delightful and boating on the Meare is highly recommended.

Shore Cote is a perfect house for a family holiday. It is well equipped for a large group. The garden is very safe for children with a gate leading on to the beach. The location couldn’t be better. Highly recommended. Shore Cote House was perfect for our family holiday. The house was well equipped and very comfortable for us. My grandchildren loved the garden and the gate from the garden straight on to the beach was a big bonus. We loved our stay at Shore Cote. Easy check in, very clean and comfortable beds. The view from the decking is 1 in a million and we never got bored of it, we spent every evening looking out onto the sea and sky, it made our stay very memorable. On our last night there were fireworks on the beach which was lovely to watch. We went to a food festival on the Saturday which was great, local tennis courts near by at the country club and boat rentals nearby. There is a little path from the garden straight to the beach which is a stones throw away. Plenty of seating space inside and outside including a fabulous bbq which we used everyday. Bedrooms are a great size and we thought that the kitchen was very well stocked to suit 8 guests. Small issue of some flies in the house however that was probably because we left the windows open as the weather was beautiful the weekend of our visit. Stairs are quite steep inside however there is a bedroom downstairs for anyone who isn’t able to climb up them. We would highly recommend staying here and look forward to revisiting. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay, we lovely it and certainly one to remember.

This house is perfect for a big family or bunch of friends to get together. Five bedrooms in total, eight beds and its on the sea front. The house is equipped with everything you’ll need and we had a lovely stay. There is ample parking outside the long private road and its within walking distance to the local pub, lake and cafe. The sea can be choppy at times but we still had a lot of fun. If you arrive on a Friday and want to go out for dinner after a long drive, I’d suggest to book a table and also go as early as possible. Most of the local pubs and restaurants stop serving food around 8 to 8:30pm. All in all, a wonderful stay and would love to return again one day soon.

We stayed here as a group of friends. I have rented several cottages in the past and this was the best equipped one I have rented. I can’t think of anything we wanted that was missing. The house is in a quiet location on the beach within walking distance of a great pub (with great food). Check in process was easy. Would definitely return!
