Description
Sea Poppies sits on a quiet road just a stone’s throw from all the attractions of Thorpeness, including the famous House in the Clouds, the windmill, the Meare (a lake with rowing boats and kayaks you can hire to explore its many islands and even a pirate’s fort!), ‘The Dolphin’ pub, golf club, tennis courts, the fens… and, best of all, the beach!
Sea Poppies has a large and sunny open plan living room/dining room/kitchen, ideal for families, but perfect for smaller groups too. The living room has triple aspect windows and patio doors opening onto the rear garden. The spacious garden faces south/west and is sheltered and secluded – perfect for playing and for relaxed lunches and evening barbecues.
There are 2 double bedrooms with kingsize beds, a twin bedroom and a bedroom with bunk beds. There are 2 bathrooms (one with a shower-bath [not a walk-in shower] and one with a bath) and a cloakroom with a further toilet and basin.
There is also a large playroom/second sitting room with two sofas and lots of space to play and with a door to the rear garden. There are books and games for all ages at the house for you to use.
There are wonderful walks from the door but it’s a great base too for exploring the Suffolk Heritage coast and East Anglia (near-by attractions include the Sutton Hoo ship burial, Minsmere bird reserve, Framlingham castle and Orford Ness & castle).
Sea Poppies is a light and spacious with a large secluded sunny garden – a great place for getting together with family or friends, or for just chilling out. It’s in an excellent but quiet central position in this delightful, quirky seaside village, just a very short stroll from the beach, pretty boating lake, cafés & pub – a perfect base for enjoying the coast.

Lovely to have space to share with the family. It was very clean and safe for the kids and the dogs. Just a short walk to the sea and the boating lake. My grandson loved feeding the ducks & geese on the nearby village pond.

Sea Poppies is situated in a superb location within Thorpeness. The garden is lovely, made especially wonderful by the fact you can hear the sea from the garden. We saw gold crests and long tailed tits dancing in the trees which was a bonus. just a stones throw away is the beach and the boating lake. Sea Poppies beds are comfy and the location superb. thanks for a good stay. We’ve loved Thorpeness.

Nice house. Great location especially as we had a wedding at the country club which was directly opposite.
Richard – September 2022
Fantastic location for a peaceful getaway with family or friends, layout of the house was great and the garden was fantastic for hanging out and bbq’s! Definitely recommend it!
Sally – June 2022
What a lovely house! Sea Poppies has lots of thoughtful touches to make guests feel at home, from yard toys for all ages to full bookshelves and records. It’s great for a medium-large sized group with spaces to hang out together or solo. Spotlessly clean. Folks loved walking 3 minutes to the tearoom and beach. It was also convenient to visit Aldeburgh (5 min ride or 2 mi walk) and Southwold.
Sea Poppies – June 2022
Excellent location for exploring the wonderful Suffolk coast. Loads of space and an attractive garden. There were 6 of us and it was great to sit around the large table which could have accommodated 8 at least.
Phil – May 2022

Location, location, location. Sea Poppies is fantastic: a roomy and comfortable bungalow [we make particular mention of the beds – we slept really well, although the sea air may have played its part!] five minutes walk from the beach, the same to the Dolphin and a minute or so from the Meare. It was close to so many of the attractions we wanted to see – it was a perfect base. We made much use of the beautiful garden – it was great simply to sit there with a glass of wine, enjoying the sunset.

Sea poppies is a lovely place to stay, excellent location and well equipped accommodation. Lots of lovely touches at the accommodation, it felt like a lot of thought had been put in to everything there. The garden was a real highlight as well as being able to step out of the door right in to the lovely whimsical village of Thorpeness.
Louise – June 2021
Lovely light and airy and very spacious bungalow in a great location two minutes walk from the meare and less than five minutes walk from the sea. The bungalow is very big and has a very large private garden. It also is in a very quiet spot. We had a wonderful time at the property which is perfectly stocked with everything we needed.

This was our third stay at Sea Poppies and it hopefully won’t be our last. It’s a lovely sunny place, the garden and location are amazing and it has everything you need. Fran is quick to respond and very helpful. The place was so clean and we really felt all the COVID precautions had been well executed. I highly recommend a stay here.
