Old Hall Barn, near Aldeburgh, Darsham

This has to be the best family house we have ever stayed in. Each year, my extended family of 16, 12 adults and 4 grandchildren 10 and under, come together in the Summer Holidays to enjoy family time together. The space Old Hall Barn has to offer is amazing with its 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. The character of the place with its fantastic lay out, numerous spaces to relax and garden lay out with 2 hot tubs and a sauna is everything you want from a home away from home break. The kitchen has ample facilities with 2 dishwashers and a lovely eating area and the downstairs compliments it with numerous seating areas spread across the ground floor. Upstairs, there are 2 stair cases leading to 3 bedrooms (we called them the “East & West Wings”) with again ample space for our group. There were 3 ensuites, one with a shower and 2 with baths. Showers over the baths would have been a useful addition as all of us tended to shower and waste paper baskets in the bedrooms would have been useful too. The Owners should be congratulated on a well thought out Barn Conversion with ample to do around the property with a Pool Table, numerous games available, books and 2 television areas which we hardly used apart from watching the “Lionesses”. Suffolk is a lovely county with loads of interest nearby. We enjoyed visits to Aldeburgh, Southwold (great for crabbing down by the river) and various National Trust and RSPB sites along the coast. There was a well stocked Farm Shop a few minutes walk down the road which was very popular with the locals. The only improvement could have been the weather but otherwise this was a holiday to remember in a property I would recommend to anyone.

I just wanted to say that we had the most amazing time at Old Hall Barn over the last few days. It was so great to have all the family together and to celebrate mum’s 80th birthday. The house was just so beautiful and was just perfect in every way. We really enjoyed ourselves. A beautiful house in a great location. Easy communication with the host who was very helpful before and during the stay. The house had everything we needed and it was awesome to have multi room Sky TV and a great BBQ. The hot tubs and sauna were clean and great quality. Unfortunately one of the beds were broken but maintenance was provided within hours. The farm shop down the road was amazing!

I stayed here with 13 friends all mid-twenties for a relaxing and fun long weekend. We loved the house, which felt larger than the photos and the hot tubs were a huge hit. The table and sofas comfortably sat all 14 of us and there was an excellent selection of board games. Would thoroughly recommend for groups of friends or families.

Every year we do a family getaway, and Old Hall Barn has been the best Airbnb we’ve stayed in. It was perfect for us. We were a family group of ten people, aged 30-68, there to celebrate my brother’s 30th birthday. We specifically wanted a place with a pool table for my brother, and it being in the living room meant we could all socialise in the same space together. But as it’s such a big place, there’s so much space for everyone. The jacuzzis and sauna are like icing on the cake, and how convenient that there are two of them! So a big group like ours can go at the same time. Very happy to have found Emma’s home. Just go, you’ll love it.

If you have a large family or group of friends this should be high on your places to visit list. From the overall initial appearance outside to the tastefully decorated inside this is well worth a stay. 7 lovely bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, large kitchen diner, gorgeous lounge with log burner, pool table and 2 hot tubs just outside – what more could you ask for. Set in lovely Suffolk countryside near to beaches and many lovely little towns. A welcome pack is supplied and there is a farm shop nearby.

We have just returned from a few days at Old Hall Barn and all had a fantastic time. As a group of 14, we found the property to be homely yet spacious with plenty to keep us occupied. All of the rooms had beautiful character features which added to the ambiance of the barn. The kitchen was large and very well equipped to cater for a group of our size – we had everything that we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The surrounding area was beautiful, and we enjoyed a trip to Southwold and to the local pub. We would love to return!
